The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State to actively participate in the party’s ongoing electronic registration exercise.
Sanwo-Olu described the APC e-registration, which is currently taking place nationwide, as a civic responsibility and a critical requirement for genuine party membership in Lagos State.
He also encouraged young people to take advantage of the exercise, stressing that the process is open, free, and simple.
The governor spoke on Tuesday after personally completing his registration at Ward 3, St. Stephen’s Primary School, Adeniji Adele, on Lagos Island. He explained that the registration exercise, scheduled to run throughout the month of January, is designed to enable both existing and new APC members to formally validate their membership through a digital platform.
According to him, the e-registration is being conducted simultaneously across the 245 wards in Lagos State and other parts of the country to digitally capture party members’ details.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the process requires registrants to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) for verification, after which personal information is confirmed and a photograph is taken. He added that successful registrants are issued a printed temporary membership slip at the end of the exercise.
“The APC e-registration exercise is what will validate and confirm that you are a card-carrying member of our party. Every party member who truly wants to be called a member of the APC should take it seriously. This is the minimum you need to show sincerity and commitment to the party. Nobody is asking for anything—just come, register and collect your slip,” the governor said.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise at his ward, noting that initial technical challenges experienced on the first day had been resolved and that the process was now running smoothly.
He further revealed that each of the 245 wards in Lagos State has been equipped with two tablets, a printer, internet connectivity, and a backup power supply to ensure seamless registration.
Sanwo-Olu therefore urged party members to create time for the exercise, which he said takes only five to ten minutes once the required details are provided.
He added that the digital approach reflects the APC’s commitment to modernisation, transparency, and the strengthening of its membership database ahead of future political engagements.
