Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has responded to critics, stating that ‘bad people’ will not be allowed to prevail in Rivers state.
The minister, while addressing the people of Rivers State during a visit to Bonny Island, expressed his appreciation to the residents. Wike thanked them for their support amid the controversies, stating that they have proven that they can be trusted.
The minister also spoke against generalising, urging the people of Rivers state to not judge people with false narratives.
Wike’s statement comes in the midst if the controversies surrounding the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“I appreciate you because you have shown me love and shown that you are people that can be trusted.I have told people that I don’t believe in generalizing, if for example somebody in Bonny disappoints you, you said Bonny people are bad, that’s very wrong. There are different kinds of people. There are places you have armed robbers, you have good people who stay there. So you can’t say because someone is bad so everyone there is bad. That’s not it.The good people are more in number than the few people who want to rub us black, but God, in His infinite mercy, will not allow evil to prevail over light,” he said.
