Allwell Ademola: Actress Bakare Zainab cries out over attacks

Nollywood actress Bakare Zainab has fired back at an online troll who allegedly sent curses to her father following reactions to her emotional display at the Service of Songs held for the late actress, Allwell Ademola.

Recall that a video from the solemn event went viral after Bakare was seen weeping uncontrollably, stirring reactions on social media.

While some sympathised with her grief, others accused the actress of performing for the camera, claiming she was not close to the deceased.

Reacting to the criticism earlier, Bakare had warned that she would respond fully after Allwell’s burial, condemning what she described as the insensitivity of using a loved one’s death to attack others.

However, the actress took to social media again after a troll reportedly slid into her direct messages and hurled curses at her father. A visibly angry Bakare said she would not tolerate such disrespect, stressing that she is “not a celebrity” when it comes to defending her family.

“People are coming into my DM to curse my dad, and you say I shouldn’t talk?
My father?
I am not a celebrity o, I will lose home training.
The audacity!” she wrote.

Questioning the mindset of those policing how others grieve, Bakare urged critics to reflect on their own lives instead of attacking mourners.

“Instead of worrying about how others are grieving for their loved one, ask yourself who will grieve for you when you’re gone,” she added.

The controversy surrounding Allwell Ademola’s passing has continued to generate reactions within the industry. Actress Laide Bakare also criticised some colleagues for turning the tragedy into content, noting that God was watching and praying for the late actress to rest in peace.

Similarly, Biodun Okeowo lamented how quickly people rushed to post “RIP” messages, alleging that the late actress’s mother had not yet been informed at the time. She described the trend as alarming and urged people to be more considerate.
