The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that nine people died in a lone accident involving a commercial bus conveying passengers from Gombe to Kano state along Jama’are-Azare road, Bauchi, on Friday.

The Bauchi Command of FRSC attributed the crash which occurred at about 6.20a.m.to speed limit violation, fatigue and loss of control.

Bauchi FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Apaji Boyi, who confirmed this to newsmen on Friday, said 10 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash.

According to him, it took the corps’ personnel barely 10 minutes to arrive at the crash scene to help clear the site.

He added that the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, for medical attention.

He also said that the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the same medical facility.

“19 persons were involved in the fatal road crash and nine of them lost their lives on the spot, while 10 sustained serious injuries,” he said.
