The Arewa Progressive Assembly (APA), a civil society organization, has called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to exercise their statutory oversight roles in relation to the operations of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and Dr. Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director/CEO.

In a communiqué issued on Thursday, the group said it has received feedback from members of the public expressing concerns about governance, transparency, and administrative processes within the agency.

APA urged the anti-graft bodies to review NEPC’s operational frameworks in line with existing laws and regulations, as part of broader efforts to strengthen public confidence in government institutions.

The organization emphasized the importance of due process, accountability, and adherence to public service standards across all federal agencies, noting that independent reviews and audits are essential tools for promoting good governance.

APA also called for greater transparency in areas such as staffing, procurement, and financial administration within public institutions, stressing that such measures help reinforce trust and institutional credibility.

In addition, the group announced plans to organize a peaceful nationwide civic demonstration, beginning in Abuja, aimed at drawing attention to the need for stronger institutional accountability and proactive engagement by relevant oversight bodies.

According to APA, the planned protest will be conducted lawfully and will focus on advocacy for transparency and ethical governance in the public sector.

The group reiterated that its actions are intended to support democratic accountability, strengthen public institutions, and encourage compliance with established governance principles across government agencies.
