The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary night-time traffic diversion along the Fadeyi inward Donmanlong and Donmanlong inward Ojuelegba corridors to enable the installation of truck barriers.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the diversion would take place from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
Osiyemi explained that the measure was part of the state’s ongoing traffic management and road safety strategy aimed at preventing accidents and safeguarding lives along the busy corridor.
He said the brief closure of the affected bridge sections was deliberately scheduled for night hours to minimise disruption to motorists and commercial activities.
The commissioner stated that during the installation period, motorists travelling from Fadeyi Donmanlong Bridge or Ayilara inbound Ojuelegba should use the service lane via Fadeyi, Jibowu, Empire and Donmanlong, linking Barracks Road to access their destinations.
Osiyemi urged road users to cooperate with traffic officials and exercise patience around the installation area, adding that the barriers were designed to curb reckless truck movements that have contributed to crashes in the past.
He added that the government would no longer tolerate the vandalisation or damage of traffic infrastructure, warning that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
Osiyemi said the state government remained committed to improving road safety across Lagos and called on motorists to comply with traffic regulations and protect public facilities put in place for their collective safety.
