Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Muyiwa Ademola has explained why he was absent at the burial of his cousin, the late actress Allwell Ademola, who was laid to rest in Lagos.
In a social media post on Saturday, Ademola revealed that he was outside the country at the time of the burial and was unable to return in time for the final rites.
Allwell Ademola was buried on January 9, 2026, at a cemetery in Yaba, with several prominent figures from the Yoruba film industry in attendance to pay their last respects.
Expressing deep sorrow over his absence, Muyiwa Ademola described the experience as one of the most painful moments for him and reflected on the fragility of life.
“It’s a final goodbye, Couz. The hardest part is not being in the country to witness your final journey home. Your passing is another painful reminder that tomorrow is never guaranteed,” he wrote.
The actor went on to share a reflective message about life and mortality, praying for long life and honouring members of the Ademola family in an emotional tribute written partly in Yoruba.
“Each day we live brings us closer to our final day, and each birthday takes us nearer to the last. May we live long, amen,” he added.
