Rema visits childhood church, gets unexpected words from Pastor

Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, caused a stir on Sunday after making a surprise return to his childhood neighbourhood in Benin City, Edo State.

Videos that surfaced on X showed the singer walking through the area, reconnecting with old friends and neighbours as excited residents trooped out to welcome him.

Chants of “Divine, we love you!” rang through the neighbourhood as fans struggled to contain their excitement at the unexpected visit.

Rema also attended church with his mother, where he was publicly acknowledged by the presiding pastor during the service.

Addressing Rema’s mother, the pastor praised her for her role in the singer’s upbringing and used the moment to commend the artiste.

“Thank you for being part of this church and for raising this young man,” the pastor said.

“You look handsome physically, more than in pictures. Thank you for being a part of this church. God bless you.”
