The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two currency exchange dealers during a deadly attack on the Durusar Gawo currency market in Kurdula District, Gudu Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer for Sokoto, Ahmad Rufa’i, the assault occurred around midday on Sunday when armed men stormed the busy market and began shooting.
“The attack happened around mid-day when the gunmen opened fire on traders,” Rufa’i said.
“One person died on the spot, while the second victim died later in the hospital,” he added.
The injured victim was rushed to Dogon Dutse Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Durusar Gawo market serves as a major commercial and currency exchange centre linking Nigeria and the Niger Republic, attracting traders, livestock dealers and money changers from both sides of the border.
