Criminal hideouts hit as police arrest 10 suspects in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has taken ten suspects into custody following coordinated security operations aimed at tackling armed robbery, drug-related offences and other criminal activities across the state.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, who said the raids were conducted simultaneously in several locations.
According to him, the operations led to the arrest of one wanted armed robbery suspect alongside nine others, as well as the seizure of 7,028 illicit substances. The recovered drugs included rubber solutions, “suck and die”, and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Adam explained that seven of the suspects were arrested for alleged drug dealing and consumption. They include Nadabo Ibrahim, 25, of Kwanar Garki; Alkassaim Sa’idu, 27, of Acauya village, Sule Tankarkar LGA; Ibrahim Sambo, 22, of Bitinariya Quarters, Hadejia LGA; Usman Abubakar, 30, of Dunari Quarters; Aminu Muhd, 25, also of Dunari Quarters; Yusuf Sale, 22, of Nassarawa Quarters; and Ibrahim Ismail, 23, of Marakawa Quarters, Ringim LGA.
In a related development, operatives attached to the ‘B’ Division in Hadejia recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle earlier reported stolen from a residence in Rinde Quarters, Hadejia town.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect(s) connected with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has since been returned to its rightful owner on bond,” Adam said.
He further disclosed that officers from the Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have been rustled on the outskirts of Dunari Quarters.
“The suspects abandoned the cows and escaped to a nearby bush,” he stated, adding that investigations were ongoing to identify the animals’ owner and bring those responsible to justice.
The police spokesperson also revealed that a wanted armed robbery suspect, Shu’aibu Musa, was arrested in connection with the theft of a camel, which was recovered from him. He said the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for thorough investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, in Sundimina town, the police arrested a 20-year-old suspected phone thief, Abdullahi Isyaku, along with a suspected receiver, Nasir Saleh, 30.
“The suspects stole one Infinix Smart 10, one Tecno Camon 19, one Itel keypad, and ₦20,000 cash, selling the phones for ₦61,000 and the suspects have been arraigned in court, with the investigation completed,” Adam said.
He stressed the importance of public cooperation, noting that “the public’s support with timely and credible information remains vital in the fight against crime,” and urged residents to continue assisting the police.
