Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM1, has written to Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, over an alleged plot to exclude him from the ongoing process to select the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
In a letter dated January 8, 2026, KWAM1 alleged that the Fusengbuwa ruling house was taking steps aimed at disenfranchising him and other interested members from participating in the nomination process for the revered traditional stool.
The Fuji star, who is also the Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, claimed that certain directives issued by the leadership of the ruling house contravene the Chieftaincy Declaration as well as the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State.
The letter, signed by his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN, expressed concern over a family correspondence dated January 6, 2026, which allegedly contained instructions inconsistent with existing laws guiding the selection of traditional rulers in the state.
According to the letter, all members of the ruling house are entitled to attend meetings convened to nominate candidates of their choice, stressing that no faction within the family has the authority to deny eligible members this right.
KWAM1 further faulted the directive that provides for screening and nomination by delegates, describing it as inconsistent with both the spirit and letter of the Chieftaincy Declaration and the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2021.
He therefore called on the Ogun State Government to intervene promptly in the interest of justice and due process, urging the governor to ensure the integrity of the selection process and protect the rights of all qualified members of the ruling house.
