Police vow to punish officers involved in assault of Portable

The Ogun state police command has it will investigate alleged assault and dehumanisation of of controversial singer, Portable, in custody.
Police said this in response to the viral video showing portable in handcuffs in custody after he was allegedly arrested over a petition by one of his Baby mamas, Ashabi.
Ashabi had allegedly claimed that Portable slapped and beat her after a dispute, according to speculations on the social media
Portable who was seated on a chair handcuffed was shown in the video pleading tearfully in a police station.
There were also speculations that the singer was beaten up by police officers

“My mum is late. It’s only God I have, I have no one else,” he while lamenting in the video.
However, spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the arrest of Portable.
But he said the police authorities will investigate assault of the singer in custody.
He added that the Police have launched investigation to identify the officers behind the act.
Babaseyi promised that that any officer culpable would be handed over to the appropriate authorities.
“Yes, he was arrested, and he is with us, but that is a different issue. What is important is the assault that was happening at the station,” he said.
“We don’t condone it. We don’t condone videoing suspects. We don’t even put suspects’ faces out. No matter who the suspect is, nobody should be treated in such a manner.”
“The investigation is ongoing, and the officers involved, if found culpable, will be sent to the appropriate authorities. That process has already started,” he said.
