Funke Akindele reacts as new movie grosses N2bn

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has made history in Africa with her latest movie ‘Behind The Scenes,’. The movie, produced by the 48-year-old has become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of 2025.

FilmOne Entertainment made this announcement via their social media platforms, revealing that the movie is the first in Africa to hit the 2Billion Naira mark.

“Behind the Scenes has officially broken and shattered records, hitting over 2 billion at the box office and becoming the first Nollywood film in Africa to cross the ₦2 billion mark. This is also the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in Africa, the UK, and Ireland, and makes @funkejenifaakindele the first filmmaker to rank #1 at the box office in Africa for three consecutive years. West Africa’s highest-grossing filmmaker, writer, director, and producer of all time,” they wrote.

The actress expressed her excitement, thanking her fans for their support. Funke Akindele also expressed her heartfelt appreciation to God, adding that such achievements will not be possible without Him.
