Mrs Abu, distraught mother of the kidnapped medical doctor, Abu Babatunde Ibrahim, has appealed to kind-hearted Nigerians and the international community to help raise the ₦100 million demanded by his abductors for his release.
The young medical doctor and his younger brother, Tahir Abu, were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at about 7:30 pm, on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the gate of their residence, along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.
Their abductors later contacted the family and demanded for ₦200 million to free the two brothers. But, the gunmen killed the younger, Tahir, brother before the money could be raised.
His lifeless body was later discovered at a riverbank in the forest by security operatives who were combing the bush for the victims.
In a video obtained by this reporter, Mrs. Abu was seen soliciting for assistance to raised the ₦100 million for the release of his son.
“Please I’m here to solicit for money to release my boy out of kidnappers’ hands. They kidnapped two, one has been killed, it remains Dr. Abu Babatunde Ibrahim in their den. The earlier the better, masses should assist me.
“Whoever has, nothing is too small, they should please have mercy on me, they should donate for me to enable me free my sọ from the hands of the kidnappers. They’ve been requesting now for ₦100 million and I cannot provide the ₦100 million, till date. He is still in their den. He was abducted on Friday, [January] 2nd.
“Delay could be dangerous again, I don’t want this one to be killed. International community should please assist me to bail me son out. He is a medical doctor serving the nation. He was coming from his office [when he was abducted]. I never knew this could happen to him, please have mercy on me,” she appealed.

Call made to the State Police Command Spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, seek for update on effort by security operatives to secure the release of the victim, went unanswered.
