A driver and one other suspect have been arrested over missing parcel containing 113.93 grams of gold worth over N20 million in Minna, Niger State.
The two suspects were arrested for criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating in Minna, Niger Police Command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun said in a statement on Wednesday.
Abiodun said that the case was transferred to SCID from Minna Police Area Command on Jan. 7, for discreet investigation.
According to him, on Jan. 3, at about 3p.m, a complaint was received at the Police Area Command Minna, from a complainant who went to Mobil park to receive a parcel sent to him from Nyanya parke, Abuja through the driver.
He said the sender revealed to the driver that the parcel contained 113.93 grams of gold worth over N20 million.
“The driver communicated with the designated recipient of the parcel who agreed to collect the item from him on the arrival of the driver in Minna.
“On reaching the park, the recipient met the driver offloading the vehicle with the second suspect, and when asked for the parcel, he alleged that someone else had come to collect the package.”
He said that the action of the two rose suspicion which prompted the complainant to arrest them.
He said that investigation was still ongoing to recover the said parcel after which the suspects would be prosecuted.
The command spokesman also said that in another development, the command arrested two other suspects for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery in the state.
He said that the case bordering on criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt and armed robbery was transferred from Agaie Division on Dec. 29, 2025 to SCID Minna for further investigation.
He explained that report received indicated that on Dec. 23, 2025 at about 9p.m., three suspected hoodlums armed with sticks and cutlasses lured an unsuspecting motorcyclist along Etsugaie via Agaie who was on his way home, inflicted injury on him and robbed him of the motorcycle.
“Upon receipt of the report, Police detectives in the Division, commenced investigation which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
“The blood-stained stick was also recovered from the crime scene, he said.
Abiodun added that during investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime, disclosing that they were led by one other presently at large.
Investigation is still ongoing with a view to apprehending the remaining suspect, while the two already arrested have been charged to court. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
