An FCT High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out the defamation suit filed by the Federal Government against the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Justice Chizoba Orji struck out the case on Thursday after the prosecution applied to discontinue the matter.
The prosecution counsel, Aderonke Imana, informed the court of the Federal Government’s decision to withdraw the charges, prompting Natasha’s lawyer, West Idahosa, to formally request that the suit be struck out.
Idahosa also urged the court to order the release of all documents belonging to the senator and her sureties.
The prosecution did not oppose the application.
In a brief ruling, Justice Orji struck out the suit, discharged the sureties, and directed that all documents seized in the course of the trial be returned to them.
