An Edo doctor identified as Dr. Ibrahim Abu Babatunde, who was abducted alongside his brother, Abu Tahir, has regained his freedom after spending two weeks in the kidnappers den.

The medical doctor who is a housemanship staff with the Edo University Teaching Hospital, Iyamho, was abducted on new year’s day at the gate of his residence in Auchi.

The kidnappers requested for a ransome of 200 million Naira for the two victims. They however, killed the younger brother, Tahir on the 6th of January.

The abductors later reduced the ransome to 100 million Naira after the death of Tahir, holding Dr. Ibrahim hostage. After negotiatins were made, the ransome was once again reduced to a sum of 40 million Naira.

He was reportedly released on Wednesday night. Local Vigilantes and hunters narrated the state of the Doctor when he was found, revealing that he was shot on his leg and could not walk.

“He was rescued in a deep forest. I am carrying him from a very long distance. He cannot walk because the kidnappers shot him in the leg ” a vigilante explained.

Dr. Eustace Oseghale, the Edo Stare Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, also confirmed the release of the doctor.
