Popular Nigerian reality star and comedian, DeeOne, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to investigate the financial activities of all Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in the country.
DeeOne made the call in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, where he raised concerns over what he described as unlawful and suspicious activities allegedly being carried out by some NGOs.
According to the comedian, several non-governmental organisations are being used as fronts to fund terrorism, kidnapping, child trafficking and other criminal activities across Nigeria
“Federal Government of Nigeria, please investigate all the NGO accounts in the country. A lot of them are being used to sponsor terrorism, kidnappers, child trafficking and even human harvesting,” he said.
He urged authorities to conduct a thorough audit of NGO finances, stressing that while humanitarian work should be encouraged, it must not come at the expense of human lives.
“Please do a thorough investigation on all these NGO accounts. In Nigeria today, once somebody rescues another person, the next thing is they open an NGO and suddenly become multi-millionaires,” DeeOne alleged.
“We are not saying people should not make money, but it has to be legitimate and not at the expense of people’s lives,” he added.
