The Chief Imam, Alhaji Musa, who presided over the funeral, urged the living to prepare for eternity, describing death as an inevitable end for all mankind.

The remains of late veteran journalist Yakubu Mohammed were on Thursday buried at his country home in Ologba, Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Mohammed, who died on January 14, was 75 years old.

The burial was conducted according to Islamic rites and was attended by religious and traditional leaders, family members, colleagues in the media industry and members of the community.

The Chief Imam, Alhaji Musa, who presided over the funeral, urged the living to prepare for eternity, describing death as an inevitable end for all mankind.

“All of us must prepare for death because it is a necessary end for humanity. We will all taste death one day. How we prepare for it matters,” the cleric said.

He described the late Mohammed as a selfless and devoted Muslim who lived a life of service to his community and contributed to the development of society.

“As a committed Muslim, he never compromised his faith. He was passionate about the progress of our land,” the Imam added.

A first cousin of the deceased, Mr. Joshua Edegbo, also paid tribute, describing Mohammed as a man dedicated to community development and religious values.

“He never deviated from his faith, even when he briefly ventured into politics. The large turnout today shows how much he was respected,” Edegbo said.
