Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has relieved his Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation, Collins Aigbogun, of his appointment following his arrest and continued detention by the police.
Aigbogun’s removal was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
The decision comes amid ongoing investigations into the violent anti-kidnapping protest that recently rocked Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Government Area of the state.
Sources said the former aide was taken into custody after the governor reportedly ordered a probe into the violence that erupted during the protest, which degenerated into unrest.
Aigbogun was among those arrested in connection with the incident and remained in police custody at the time his appointment was terminated.
Following his dismissal, Governor Okpebholo approved the appointment of Christopher Udobor Iyase as the new Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation.
According to the statement, Iyase is regarded as a committed youth advocate with a strong passion for the welfare and development of young people across Edo State.
The government expressed confidence that his appointment would strengthen youth engagement and contribute positively to the administration’s objectives.
The state government reiterated its resolve to uphold law and order while ensuring accountability in public service.
