Africa’s Image at Stake’ – Senegal Coach Warns Ahead of AFCON Final

Quick Read

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has responded to complaints made by Senegal against Morocco ahead of the final.

Senegal head coach, Pape Thiaw, has said that Africa’s image is on the line as his team prepares to face Morocco in the AFCON final on Sunday night.

Thiaw made this statement during his pre-match press conference. He appealed to fans and match officials to ensure the final is not spoiled.

According to him, playing against the host country is always difficult because of the home crowd, but once the match starts, it will be a fair contest.

“Today, it is the image of Africa that is at stake,” Thiaw said. “We must not spoil it. Playing the host nation is never easy because of the crowd, but on the pitch, it is 11 against 11.”

Senegal reached the final after defeating Egypt in the semi-finals, while Morocco beat Nigeria to book their place.
