Suspected gunmen have abducted Prince Emorioloye Owoloemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and Director-General of Asiwaju Media Team, a support group for President Bola Tinubu.
According to a report by Vanguard, the incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the Okonga/Olodo Junction in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area, where armed men reportedly stormed his office in two Hilux vehicles and forcefully took him away. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
Speaking on the abduction, Ilaje Local Government Chairman, Hon. Maurice Oripenaye, condemned the act, describing it as a “flagrant violation of public safety” and a threat to the peace of the community.
He appealed to security agencies, community leaders, and residents to assist in ensuring the safe release of Owoloemi. Oripenaye said:
“We have immediately contacted all relevant security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Nigerian Army, and local security networks, to ensure a swift, coordinated response. We call on all stakeholders to provide useful information that could aid this operation.”
The chairman urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified reports that could hinder investigations, adding that Ilaje Local Government would not tolerate lawlessness, intimidation, or violence.
Reacting, Ondo State Police spokesperson DSP Jimoh Abayomi said investigations have begun, though details remain sketchy. He reassured residents that “full-scale measures have been put in place to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.”
