Kano gov orders manhunt for killers of woman, six children

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has ordered manhunt for the killers of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of the Kano metropolis, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.

The governor, in a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, condemned the attack and directed security agencies to immediately apprehend those responsible for the dastardly act.

He said that the killing of a mother and her innocent children was barbaric, senseless and a grave assault on “our shared humanity”.

Yusuf vowed that his administration would not allow the crime to go unpunished, insisting that justice must be served.

“We will ensure that the perpetrators are hunted down, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he said.

He ordered the Kano State Police Command to launch an immediate manhunt for the suspects and directed the Kano State Neighbourhood Corps to intensify patrols and community surveillance, particularly in vulnerable areas.

He extended his condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi and the people of Kano State and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

Gunmen on Saturday in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kumbotso Local Government Area, killed the woman, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children during an invasion of her residence.

The victims’ bodies were later recovered and taken to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, while the incident was reported at the Kumbotso Police Division.
