Residents of Itokin, Agbowa, Iyana Mortuary, and Ogbere in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, have expressed gratitude to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Adegoke Fayoade, in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, for rescuing them from deadly criminal elements.
For years, the communities had been terrorised by armed robbers, murderers, ritualists, and cultists who attacked, robbed, and even killed residents.
Speaking to P.M.NEWS under conditions of anonymity for security reasons, some residents said they had endured repeated assaults without help from local police.
They noted that once they petitioned AIG Fayoade, he responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of suspects. Since then, they said, they have been able to “sleep with both eyes closed.”
The residents also commended the Inspector General of Police, AIG Kayode Egbetokun, for his foresight in deploying AIG Fayoade to Zone 2 Command to safeguard lives and property.
According to police reports, the breakthrough occurred between 24 November and 1 December 2025, after petitions from residents highlighted the unbearable attacks. AIG Fayoade directed his crack team, led by Commander of the Zonal Dragon Squad, SUPOL Adeyemi Akeem, to track down the suspects.
The squad stormed the hideout of the Aye Confraternity cult group, arresting five suspects including a herbalist.
Suspects are Adewale Adejumo (aka Shadex, 42), Sunday Luky (aka Otega, 36), Mathew Charles (aka Paleji, 29), Adeniji Osipitu (aka Awo, 36), and herbalist Fasasi Abiola (aka Honey Boy, 31).
Recovered items were one double-barrel shotgun, one single-barrel shotgun, a dagger, a battle axe, and cutlasses.
Robbery Suspects Arrested (Iyana Mortuary):
On 28 November, police swooped on a gang accused of robbing passengers in commercial vehicles and pushing victims out of moving cars around the Abeokuta axis.
Suspects arrested are Fadare Olusegun, Tanimowo Sodig, and Soetan Isa.
Recovered items include one locally made cut-to-size pistol, one single-barrel pistol, their operational Micra car (registration number KSH 793 XA), and four Android phones.
Cultists Arrested (Ogbere):
On 1 December, Commander Akeem’s team invaded the hideout of notorious cultists accused of killing Constable Kamorudeen Olalekan and another victim. Fourteen suspects were arrested, including Daniel Friday, Emmanuel Olajuwon, Adebayo Adekola, Adetayo Oluwaseun, Onasanya Opeoluwa, and nine others.
Recovered items are one locally made single-barrel pistol, two battle axes, cutlasses, daggers, charms, 15 mobile phones, and ₦72,000.
Police confirmed that one suspect has already been charged to court, while others remain under interrogation. Upon completion of investigations, all suspects will face prosecution.
