Popular Nigerian singer, Ruger, has confirmed the death of fast-rising Afrobeats artiste Destiny Boy, whose sudden passing has sparked widespread shock and speculation across social media.

Rumours of Destiny Boy’s death began circulating on Sunday afternoon after a viral video surfaced online, showing the young singer motionless inside a car, with wool in his nose. The clip triggered intense debate and confusion, with no official statement initially coming from family or close associates.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of death remains unknown. Conflicting accounts have flooded social media, with some alleging the singer died at the residence of a herbalist, while others claim he fell ill in the early hours of the day. None of these claims has been officially confirmed.

Breaking the silence, Ruger took to X to question the circumstances surrounding Destiny Boy’s death and the lack of clear information.

“Bruh people will just post that someone has died and everyone will move on. Wtf caused his death, who was he with, what was the boy eating or drinking. No autopsy, NOTHING!!!! We just have to accept that he’s dead. My God RIP Destiny Boy 💔”

Destiny Boy, 22, was regarded as one of the promising young voices in the Afrobeats scene, steadily building a following with his street-influenced sound. His death has left fans and colleagues mourning what many describe as a life and career cut tragically short.

The late singer announced  the birth of his first child in 2024.
