“I’ve been traumatised, devastated,” Barau seeks justice for slain Kano family

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Ibrahim Jibrin, has said the suspects arrested over the gruesome murder of a mother and her six children in Kano must face the full wrath of the law, vowing to follow their prosecution to logical conclusion.

The Deputy Senate President who said he has been traumatised, devastated and overwhelmed by the gruesome murder of these innocent children and their mother said this while commending the Kano State Police Command for the arrest of the three suspects over the gruesome murder of the housewife and her six children.

He described the multiple murders in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, within Kano metropolis a barbaric and beyond comprehension.

Senator Barau, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, therefore described the arrest of the suspects as, “soothing news,” and called for a speedy trial of the suspects.

The Kano police Command spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, had in a statement on Sunday, listed the suspects as Umar Auwalu (23) of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters Kano, Isyaku Yakubu, AKA ‘Chebe’ (40), of Sagagi Quarters Kano, and Yakubu Abdulaziz, AKA ‘Wawo’ (21) of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters, Kano.

The Deputy Senate President said: “I commend the command for its swiftness. This is the first leg; the command should conduct a thorough investigation and ensure a speedy trial so that these ‘killers’ are prosecuted and brought to book.

” They must face the full wrath of the law. We will follow this to its logical conclusion. Over the past hours, I have been traumatised, devastated and overwhelmed by the gruesome murder of these innocent children and their mother. This is barbaric and beyond comprehension.

” May Almighty Allah grant the victims Aljannatul Firdaus and give the husband/ father of the children, Haruna Bashir, the strength to bear this.”
