Ogun Police arrest suspect over mysterious death of Fuji Star “Destiny Boy”

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect following the death of popular young Fuji musician, Adesina Afeez (22), widely known as “Destiny Boy.”

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Monday, the Command announced it has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the artist’s death.

“The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy,” the release read.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing,” the police said.

According to the statement, the suspect has been transferred to the SCID’s Homicide Section as authorities work to determine the cause of death.

Destiny Boy, reportedly died on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, at the age of 22.

While the exact cause of his death has not yet been officially confirmed by family or authorities, multiple reports and eyewitness accounts suggest he had been battling health issues and severe symptoms shortly before his passing, including reportedly vomiting blood.

Videos circulated on social media showed his lifeless body being transported, fuelling public shock and speculation about what actually happened.

There are also a mix of unverified theories circulating online, from assertions by a family member that he may have been poisoned to social-media claims involving a herbalist, but none of these has been substantiated by police or medical reports as of now.

Destiny Boy rose to fame as a young Afrofuji artist, gaining attention for his creative covers and original tracks that blended traditional Fuji music with contemporary sounds.
