Nigerian politician Ned Nwoko has broken his silence on the arrest of Ann, the best friend of his estranged wife, Regina Daniels.
Recall that the senator recently ordered the arrest of Ann alongside Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Sammy—an action that sparked widespread reactions online.
In a press statement shared on his Instagram page, Ned Nwoko explained that Ann was arrested over allegations of criminal defamation.
According to him, she accused him of physically assaulting his wife, Laila, an allegation he claimed resulted in a miscarriage.
Nwoko firmly denied the claim, stating that no such incident ever occurred. He further alleged that Ann had carried out an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels while she was still married to him.
The senator accused Ann of terminating his unborn child in what he described as a gruesome manner, alleging that Regina was made to swallow weeds, which reportedly caused her to bleed for weeks.
Ned Nwoko urged the public to read his full statement, insisting that his actions were based on the need to address what he described as serious falsehoods and criminal conduct.
Recall that in October, Regina Daniels announced the end of her marriage to Ned Nwoko, citing domestic violence as the reason for leaving. In response, the politician released a statement attributing the marital crisis to what he described as Regina’s struggle with drug and alcohol abuse.
According to Nwoko, his attempts to help Regina seek professional treatment were consistently resisted. He further stated that her decision to move out of his home led to the arrest of her brother and threats to arrest other family members.
Regina Daniels, on her part, issued a warning to Ned Nwoko, threatening to expose alleged crimes ranging from murder to land grabbing and fraud. She also accused him of introducing her to drugs, including ecstasy, during their marriage.
At one point, reports suggested that the actress considered returning to the marriage after the alleged harassment of her family members became overwhelming.
In a subsequent statement, Ned Nwoko clarified that he does not want Regina to return to his home. He maintained that his only concern is for her to undergo therapy, alleging that she is under the influence of drugs and that her public claims are false.
