The commendation was given by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, during the official flag-off of the training programme themed “Empowering Excellence: Building Capacity for a Greater Lagos.”
The commissioner was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Olarenwaju Bajulaye.
Omotoso described the theme of the programme as timely and reflective of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to excellence through deliberate investment in human capital.
“The theme captures a fundamental truth that excellence does not happen by chance; it is cultivated through deliberate capacity building and a continuous quest for improvement,” he said.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s support for professional development initiatives across its agencies, stressing that capacity building remains central to effective public service delivery.
“The Ministry of Information and Strategy remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote growth, innovation and institutional development,” Omotoso added.

In his welcome address, the General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Tayo Akanle, said the in-house training programme was designed to strengthen both individual and collective performance within the organisation.
“This training programme has been carefully structured to build individual capacity, strengthen teamwork and reinforce our institutional values of discipline, integrity, accountability and collaboration,” Akanle said.
He noted that excellence is a continuous journey that requires sustained commitment and investment in people and systems.
“Excellence is not a one-time achievement; it is a continuous process that demands deliberate investment in people, constant system improvement and a strong commitment to the vision of a smarter, safer and more efficient Lagos,” he added.
Akanle encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions and apply the knowledge gained to their daily operations to enhance service delivery.
He also expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, the Permanent Secretary, facilitators and resource persons for their support in making the programme a success.
