Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the recruitment of 150 personnel to the State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), to boost emergency response across the state.

The Agency’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

Adeseye noted that the recruitment underscored the state government’s sustained commitment to building a resilient, well-equipped, and professionally trained fire and rescue service.

“This latest recruitment follows earlier landmark recruitments under the Sanwo-Olu-led government, including the engagement of 100 firefighters in 2020 and 435 firefighters in 2022, the single highest recruitment in the history of the Fire Service,” she said.

She added that the newly recruited firefighters, employed in November 2025, had resumed intensive training at the upgraded LSFRS Fire Academy, and are undergoing the Professional Basic Firefighting Competency and Short Service Course.

The controller reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government, to investing in human capacity development, modern infrastructure, and operational equipment to ensure safety across the state.
