Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido took to X on Thursday to express heartfelt gratitude to his father, billionaire businessman and philanthropist Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, amid an ongoing paternity dispute that has resurfaced in the media.
In a simple but emotional post accompanied by a heart emoji and prayer hands, Davido wrote: “Thank you my loving Father … ❤️🙏”
The message came shortly after Adeleke held a press conference on Wednesday where he firmly addressed claims that his son fathered a 12-year-old girl named Anu (Aanuoluwapo).
According to reports from multiple outlets, Adeleke stated that multiple DNA tests conducted at various hospitals in Lagos and even involving Davido’s cousin B-Red for thoroughness, conclusively showed Davido is not the biological father.
He explained that past support provided to the child and her mother, including school fees and financial aid, stemmed from compassion rather than paternal obligation.
The controversy, which has dragged on intermittently, was reignited when Anu’s mother reportedly pushed for another independent DNA test.
Davido has previously denied the claims, insisting he had never met the woman involved and pointing to prior test results.
Fans and celebrity news pages quickly interpreted Davido’s post as appreciation for his father’s rare public intervention to defend the family’s name.
Reactions online ranged from support for the “fatherly love” to criticism questioning why the matter required Adeleke’s involvement at all.
