Ondo man lands in prison for stealing four tubers of yam

A 25-year-old apprentice, Ayo Ajibade,  has been remanded in Okitipupa Correctional Centre for allegedly stealing four tubers of yam valued at N10,000.

The police prosecutor,  ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the Court that the defendant and one other person at large on Oct. 25, 2025, around 5:00 am at Kiribo in Igbekebo Magisterial District conspired to commit a felony.

He said that the defendant and one other at large entered the farm belonging to one Olorunjuwon Igbasan and stole the tubers of yam.

Omoyeigha added that the offences contravene and are punishable under Sections 516 and 390 (9), Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

Ajibade, however, pleaded guilty to the two-count charge bordering on felony and stealing.

Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, the Chief Magistrate,  Okitipupa Chief Magistrates Court, remanded the accused, whose address was not given until Jan. 29, pending the determination of his judgment.
