Nigerian actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has raised the alarm over what she described as an attempt to steal her intellectual property, following the demonetisation of her YouTube film Where Love Lives.
Ademoye revealed that an individual allegedly filed a copyright claim on a song used in the movie, resulting in YouTube blocking revenue from the project.
According to her, the same person went further to upload the song on Spotify and other streaming platforms, falsely presenting himself as the composer.
The film, which was released in December 2025, has enjoyed massive success online, amassing over 18 million views as of January 2026.
Taking to her Instagram page, an emotional Ademoye issued a public ultimatum to the alleged offender, identified as “Lagos Sound/Emmanuel Davies,” demanding that the copyright claim be lifted immediately.
“I woke up to my hard work wanting to be stolen from me,” she wrote. “Please, if anyone knows who Lagos Sound/Emmanuel Davies is, tell him to lift the copyright from my movie in the next one hour. A song I completely own the rights to was taken, uploaded, and used to block me from earning from my own work.”
The actress warned that failure to comply would attract serious consequences, stressing that she would pursue the matter decisively if the claim was not reversed.
Ademoye also hinted that this was not her first encounter with alleged intellectual property theft, expressing frustration over repeated attempts to undermine her creative efforts.
