Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2–0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2–0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo in the first half sealed the points for Pep Guardiola’s side, ending their four-game winless streak in the league.

City took control early and opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Marmoush finished from close range after a fine cross from Matheus Nunes, marking his first Premier League goal of the season.

The hosts dominated possession as Wolves sat deep with a five-man defence, but City continued to create chances and doubled their lead just before the break.

In stoppage time of the first half, Bernardo Silva slipped a precise pass to Semenyo, who coolly fired home from the edge of the area to make it 2–0.

Guardiola rested key players Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, leaving both on the bench until the second half, but City were already firmly in control by then.

New signing Marc Guehi impressed on his debut at centre-back, helping City keep a clean sheet, while Semenyo went close to adding a third after the interval when his effort struck the crossbar.

Wolves had a late chance through Yerson Mosquera, whose flicked header also hit the bar, but the visitors failed to find a way back into the match.

The win leaves City four points behind league leaders Arsenal, while Wolves remain bottom of the table, now 14 points from safety.
