Aiyedatiwa clears air on APC tickets ahead of 2027
Quick Read
Aiyedatiwa warned against the circulation of rumours and misleading narratives, stressing that such actions could undermine unity within the party
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed claims that he is backing any aspirant or offering assurances over party tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor spoke on Sunday during a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, where party leaders and members converged to discuss internal affairs.
Despite the fact that Ondo State will not conduct a governorship poll in 2027, political manoeuvring within the APC has intensified, with several members positioning themselves for legislative seats at both state and federal levels.
Aiyedatiwa warned against the circulation of rumours and misleading narratives, stressing that such actions could undermine unity within the party.
He said the clarification was necessary in view of increasing speculation as preparations for party primaries gradually take shape.
“Let me quickly correct this, because we know in the political climate there are many falsehoods, lies, insinuations and assumptions that fly around and try to create cracks and divisions. I want to emphasise that I have not promised anyone a ticket.
“I have not promised anyone that I am giving you a ticket for the state assembly or national assembly election and I have not said I will deny anyone a return ticket,” he said.
