Supporters of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), gathered in large numbers at his residence in Kano on Sunday.

The visit came shortly after the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, defected from the NNPP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso shared details of the visit in a post on his official Facebook page. He said the supporters were from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The former governor thanked them for standing by him during what he described as a difficult time. According to him, the visit was a show of loyalty and courage.

He said the supporters chose to remain with him, not for personal benefit, but for the collective progress and wellbeing of the people.

Kwankwaso added that he remains committed to promoting the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya movement and expressed confidence that victory would come through the will of the people and God’s grace.

It will be recalled that Governor Abba Yusuf recently left the NNPP for the APC. Kwankwaso, who expressed disappointment over the move, described the day the governor left the party as “World Betrayal Day.”
