Justin Ijeh, a member of the Obidients Movement, explained why supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi are backing him over other candidates in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Justin Ijeh, a member of the Obidients Movement, explained why supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi are backing him over other candidates in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking on Arise Television on Monday, Ijeh said the “Peter Obi or nothing” stance reflects the movement’s position and confidence in Obi’s leadership.

He added that the group has not rejected coalition efforts within the ADC and that its members are already joining the party’s structures after Obi officially entered.

Ijeh also expressed concern about suggestions that the party’s internal process might already have a predetermined outcome. He urged ADC leaders to work with Obi’s supporters, listen to their views, and ensure transparency and trust.

He said:

“When we say ‘Peter Obi or nothing,’ it simply shows where we stand. We have chosen Peter Obi among many capable candidates.

A generation of Nigerians who were once seen as uninterested in politics has now decided to participate actively. They looked at all the candidates and chose the one who best represents their values.

“This does not mean we reject coalition-building. We are engaging with the party and integrating into its structure.

“Party leaders should recognize supporters’ passion, gain their trust, reassure them, and make the process transparent. All voices should be heard, and no one should be shut down at this early stage.
