The Federal Government has praised popular actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, after her new movie, “Oversabi Aunty,” earned ₦1 billion in Nigerian cinemas.
The movie was released on December 19, 2025, and reached the ₦1 billion mark on Monday.
Reacting to the achievement, the government, through the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), said the success shows the steady growth of Nigeria’s creative industry.
In a statement shared by the Managing Director of the Corporation, Ali Nuhu, the NFC said Toyin Abraham has joined a special group of filmmakers whose movies connect well with audiences and also perform strongly at the box office.
The Corporation explained that Oversabi Aunty proves that Nigerian stories, when well produced and properly marketed, can achieve great success. It added that the movie’s performance shows a good understanding of the Nigerian audience, strong distribution, and a growing cinema culture in the country.
Toyin Abraham also reacted to the milestone on Instagram, where she thanked her fans and the general public for their support.
