American rapper and record producer, Kanye West, has tendered a public apology for his hate speech towards the Jews. The rapper’s signed apology, published in the Wall Street Journal’s print edition on Monday, came after a series of anti-semitic rants.
Kanye explained that his outbursts were as a result of the brain injury he sustained during a car accident that occurred over two decades ago.
Kanye stated that the accident did serious damage to his mental health, adding that it is the cause of his bipolar condition.
“25 years ago, I was in a car accident that broke my jaw and caused injury to the right frontal lobe of my brain. No comprehensive scans were done as at the time, neurological exam were limited. The possibility of frontal-lobe injury was never raised. It was properly diagnosed in 2023. That medical oversight caused serious damage to my mental health, leading to my bipolar type-1 diagnosis”, he said.
