Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has criticised the way Lagos State was portrayed during American streamer IShowSpeed’s recent visit to Nigeria as part of his ongoing African tour.
IShowSpeed arrived in Lagos last Wednesday for the Nigerian leg of his project, “Speed Does Africa,” a 28-day livestream tour across several African countries which kicked off on December 29, 2025. Nigeria marked the 15th stop on the streamer’s continent-wide journey aimed at showcasing Africa’s culture, people and landscapes to a global audience.
Reacting via his Instagram story after following the tour so far, Kunle Remi described Nigeria as the “worst” destination on his personal list, arguing that Lagos was poorly represented during the visit.
According to the actor, the version of Lagos presented to millions of viewers lacked depth and authenticity, failing to reflect the true essence of Nigerian culture. He further lamented that the experience appeared to reduce Nigeria’s identity to nightlife and superficial attractions.
“After watching IShowSpeed’s journey so far, Nigeria is the worst on my own list. We just really stripped Lagos naked. No be say anything dey under the clothes before sha,” Kunle wrote.
He added, “Seems like we have lost the essence of culture, our truth. All we have is fake drinks, club and beggy beggy skills.”
