Police operatives have arrested four drug peddlers with large quantities of assorted illicit drugs being conveyed for commercial purposes during different operations within the Kano city.
The illicit drugs include large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, rubber solutions, and bottles of “suck and die.”
The Kano police Command Spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa hinted that on January 25, 2026, a team of police officers attached to Fagge Police Division, while on intelligence-led surveillance patrol at Triumph Roundabout, intercepted a tricycle containing two suspected sacks.
When a search was conducted, 157 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa were recovered.
Two suspects: Amadu Ado and Salisu Lurwanu, both of Kulliya Village, Bunkure Local Government Area, Kano, were arrested.
In another operation, on January 24, 2026, the Command’s Rapid Response Team (RRT), under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, conducted a raid at some black spots across Kano metropolitan area, leading to the arrest of Usman Hamisu (22) and Auwal Abdullahi (25), in possession of 40 pieces of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, 20 pieces of rubber solutions, half a roll of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, and 10 small bottles of “Suck and Die.”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bakori, commended the efforts of the officers involved in these operations and urged the good people of Kano State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926.
“The Kano State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in the State and assures the public of its continued efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for all,” Kiyawa added.
