Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has disclosed that he reconciled with late South African rapper AKA before the rapper’s tragic death.
The artistes fell out in 2019 after Burna Boy threatened to “deal” with AKA if they ever met.
The rift reportedly stemmed from tensions following the AFCON quarterfinal clash between Nigeria and South Africa, during which AKA shared screenshots of alleged hate messages from Nigerian social media accounts, actions that were linked to xenophobic sentiments at the time.
However, Burna Boy revealed that the long-running feud had been quietly resolved. In a posthumous birthday tribute shared on his Instagram page, the ‘African Giant’ crooner expressed regret that they never got the chance to fully reconnect or collaborate.
He wrote: “Happy birthday Supa Mega. We fell out over bullsht even though we squashed it over Twitter DMs nobody knew about. We never got the chance to really link up and do what we were supposed to do. I will regret that until I see you again. Until then, R.I.P Mega.”
