A Nigerian development and gender-based violence analyst, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, has spoken on the topic of feminism, claiming that men are becoming allies of the movement.

The analyst in a statement released on Thursday, explained that men are unlearning patriarchal beliefs and dismantling the systems.

Igbuzor claimed that more men are coming to the realisation that the feminist movement is not an attack but a challenge to harmful masculinity. He added the need for men to take action, disclosing that 3200 Nigerian men are now feminist allies.

“These men are not just learning; they are taking action, leading conversations in their communities, challenging harmful gender norms, and supporting women’s rights initiatives. Patriarchy is produced, enforced, and defended within male-dominated systems. It cannot be dismantled without men changing their beliefs, behaviors, and use of power,” he said.
