Popular influencer and entrepreneur, Priscilla Ojo, has reacted strongly to a viral claim circulating on social media that she described postpartum depression as “an illusion caused by poverty.”

The claim, which originated from an X (formerly Twitter) user, alleged that Priscilla made the remark while speaking about marriage and life after childbirth, stating that she never experienced postpartum depression and that her love for her husband increased instead.

On Friday, Priscilla took to her Instagram Story to debunk the statement, sharing a screenshot of the post and distancing herself from the claims.

The viral post read in part: “Priscilla was asked about marriage after childbirth. She said she never experienced postpartum depression; instead, her love for her husband tripled. She believes postpartum depression is an illusion caused by poverty.”

Reacting, Priscilla firmly denied ever making such comments, describing the claim as false, insensitive and disrespectful to mothers.

“I never said this, what’s wrong with Twitter people? Be ready to provide evidence!!” she wrote.

She further expressed outrage over the narrative, adding: “What do you mean I said ‘postpartum is an illusion caused by poverty’? Insulting to mothers, very insensitive.”
