Chelsea announced on Friday night that young player Kendry Paez has left the club to join River Plate on loan for the rest of the season.
The Premier League club had recalled Paez from Strasbourg before agreeing to the loan move to the Argentine side. This ends his spell in France’s Ligue 1.
Paez scored one goal in 15 Ligue 1 matches for Strasbourg in the first half of the season. He also played five times for them in the UEFA Conference League.
The 18-year-old has seven years left on his Chelsea contract, having joined the club from Independiente del Valle last year.
The loan move is aimed at giving Paez more first-team experience and regular playing time, which could boost his chances of breaking into Chelsea’s squad next season.
