The Federal Government has announced that suspects arrested in connection with the recent killings in Yelwata, Benue State, will be arraigned in court on Monday, February 2, 2026.
The suspects will be brought before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to answer charges related to the deadly attacks.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Publicity in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the arrests followed a painstaking investigation and collaboration among relevant government agencies.
The statement assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is determined to ensure justice is served, stressing that the prosecution is aimed at sending a strong warning to individuals or groups threatening national security under any guise.
“The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation wishes to assure Nigerians that justice will be ensured in the matter to send a strong signal to the enemies of the country,” the statement said.
It added that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to the protection of lives and property in line with the provisions of the Constitution.
