The Delta State Police Command has launched a decisive crackdown following a brazen attack on police officers at the boundary between Akukwu-Igbo and Ugbolu communities in Oshimili North Local Government Area, arresting several suspects and intensifying a manhunt for others still at large.
Acting swiftly on the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, ordered the immediate deployment of tactical operatives to the area to restore order and reassure residents.
The rapid response, according to police sources, prevented further escalation and stabilised the affected communities.
Operatives subsequently carried out a sting operation that led to the arrest of suspects linked to the attack.
The suspects are currently in custody and have provided what the police described as “useful information” to investigators, aiding ongoing efforts to track down additional perpetrators.
In a strongly worded statement, Adesola warned that unprovoked attacks on law enforcement officers would not be tolerated under his leadership.
