“Not yet, but I think I’ll be. Definitely. The APC has given me the platform to present myself right from when I was CDS till date, so why not?” he said.
Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has hinted that he may soon formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he is currently “in transition” politically.
Musa made the disclosure during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he spoke openly about his political future and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Asked whether he now considers himself a politician, the former Chief of Defence Staff replied, “I’ve not transited yet. I’m in transition.”
When pressed further on whether he would become a member of the ruling party, Musa said joining the APC was likely.
“Not yet, but I think I’ll be. Definitely. The APC has given me the platform to present myself right from when I was CDS till date, so why not?” he said.
The Defence Minister also pledged total loyalty to President Tinubu, stressing his readiness to support the administration and its second-term ambition.
“Mr President needs all support, totally. I’ll give him all my support, whatever I can do to make sure that he succeeds in his call of duty, including moving forward to the second term,” Musa stated.
General Musa served as the 18th Chief of Defence Staff from June 2023 until his retirement in October 2025 and was sworn in as Minister of Defence on December 4, 2025.
His comments come amid a wave of defections to the APC, which has intensified since President Tinubu assumed office in 2023. Several governors from opposition parties have crossed over to the ruling party, raising the number of APC-controlled states to 29 following the recent defection of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas.
