“That claim is entirely false and baseless, and seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting-edge and pathbreaking digitisation of our Party’s membership register,” he said

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants are being forced to join the ruling party through its electronic registration drive.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the allegation as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, insisting it was driven by anxiety over the party’s expanding membership base.

ADC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, had alleged that public sector workers across several states were being coerced into enrolling in the APC.

Responding, Morka said the accusation was entirely false and baseless, adding that it was aimed at undermining what he described as a landmark digital innovation.

“That claim is entirely false and baseless, and seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting-edge and pathbreaking digitisation of our Party’s membership register,” he said.

The APC accused the ADC of a history of misinformation, recalling what it described as the earlier fabrication and circulation of a fake APC membership slip linking a terrorist figure to the party.

According to the ruling party, the e-registration exercise has attracted overwhelming interest, forcing an extension of its timeline.

Morka attributed the enthusiasm to public approval of government policies, insisting the process remained voluntary and enthusiastic and driven by the visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda”.

Dismissing the ADC’s reaction as “fumbling”, the APC said the opposition party was intimidated by the phenomenal success of the registration exercise.

“However, that cannot justify concocting and spewing lies in an attempt to smear the exercise,” the statement added.
