US President Donald Trump has fired off a sharp warning to comedian Trevor Noah, threatening legal action over a joke made during Sunday night’s 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

The joke, referencing Trump’s alleged connections to Jeffrey Epstein, drew immediate backlash from the US president.

In a post on Truth Social early Monday, Trump called the Grammys “the WORST, virtually unwatchable” and criticized CBS for airing the ceremony, adding that the network is “lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer” ahead of Disney taking over broadcast rights next year.

The US president specifically targeted Noah’s quip implying he had spent time on Epstein’s island. Trump wrote, “Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!” He stressed, “I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media.”

Trump’s post escalated to a direct warning for Noah, writing: “He better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C.” He added that he intends to pursue “plenty” of money, referencing previous settlements with ABC and CBS, and concluded with a taunt: “Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”

The controversy stems from Noah’s remarks during the Grammys, where he repeatedly referenced Trump. Before announcing the “Song of the Year,” Noah quipped: “Song of the Year, that is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.” He punctuated the joke by responding to audience gasps with: “Oh I told you it’s my last year! What are you going to do about it?”
